Interview with Sam

A Playful Chat With Sam: The Maker Behind My Paper Box

Q: For anyone new here, who are you and what do you make all day?
A: I’m Sam! I spend my days designing personalized notepads, cards, and all sorts of paper goodies—basically everything that makes your desk a happier place.

Q: What made you start My Paper Box?
A: I’ve always believed that paper has this tiny superpower: it slows you down just enough to notice your own thoughts. I wanted to make stationery that feels personal, playful, and a little bit magical every month.

Q: What’s your favorite part of creating each monthly theme?
A: The moment when the theme “clicks.” It’s like spotting constellations in your own sketches—suddenly everything connects. Then it’s off to the races: colors, patterns, jokes, tiny details, all pulled together into a box-sized story.

Q: What inspires your designs?
A: Everyday weirdness. A cute animal at the grocery store. A random color combo in a TV show. A pun that hits me at 2 a.m. (which is… more often than I’d like to admit). Life is full of odd, wonderful things if you look sideways at them.

Q: What’s your desk like right now?
A: Controlled chaos with a dash of “please don’t move that stack, I know exactly what’s under it.” Also: pens everywhere. Like, everywhere.

Q: What’s something people may not know about personalized stationery?
A: Personalization feels fancy, but it’s secretly practical. If your name is on it, you’re more likely to use it—and it becomes a tiny daily reminder that something was made just for you. Simple, but powerful.

Q: How do you choose which items go into the full box?
A: I try to create a little ecosystem: something to write on, something to send, something to decorate, and something that just sparks joy. It’s like curating a tiny monthly museum of paper.

Q: What’s the vibe of the Mini Notepad Box compared to the Full Box?
A: The Mini is the quick hit—the espresso shot of stationery. The Full Box is the full-on brunch spread with all the sides and fancy drinks.

Q: Do you have a favorite past theme?
A: Themes are like kids—you can’t pick a favorite, but you definitely remember which ones made the most mess.

Q: What do you hope people feel when they open their box?
A: A mix of “aww,” “wow,” and “I needed this.” I want the box to feel like a tiny celebration they didn’t have to plan.

Q: Anything exciting coming up?
A: New themes, new products, and a few surprises I can’t talk about yet—but let’s just say your desk is about to get even cuter.
